Profile of Dr. Summer Shiah

 

Dr. Summer Shiah, with over 25 years in sales and marketing experience, received his DBA (Doctor of Business Administration) degree in Marketing in 2005.
His dissertation was about the CSF (Critical Successful Factors) of cross-culture implementation of eCRM systems. With his very first job to work for IBM for 10 years, he learned and practiced the IBM way in Sales, Marketing, and Management and that helps him to build up his business senses and know-how.
Dr. Shiah participated the Internet Digital Revolution era since the very beginning. Currently he teaches Master and Doctoral courses in the Business School in Silicon Valley Area of California, USA. Besides working on PMP certification, his current research is about how to implement Sun Tzi’s “The Art of War” into business operations.

Professional employment:

Starting with the System Engineer position in IBM in 1983, Shiah changed into his sales career later on to do selling jobs to Existing customer retentions, New account acquisitions, and Competitive win-back project conversions. He also developed his skills of Leads Prospecting and Customer Demand Generation while working in IBM’s Data-base Marketing department. His final several IBM years were invested into the IBM Channel marketing and management business, from channel executive covering, middle management counseling, to sales operation supervising.

Before Shiah’s family moved to the USA in 1995, he worked as sales management positions for Bull Information, and Novell. During this period, he mainly sold IT total solutions and MIS consultancy.

In 1997, Shiah joined Sinanet.com at Cupertino (later, NASDAQ: SINA) to start his Internet career. This precious start-up experience in e-Marketing and e-Commerce helped him to build up his knowledge-base in e-Campaign, Digital library, and eCRM. Shiah afterward became the General Manager of CNet Networks (NASDAQ: CNET) in Taiwan in 2002 to cash out his Internet intelligence for customers.

While Shiah worked academically to pursue his doctoral degree, he worked as the Consultant Lead of the CRM (CONSULTANCY RESOURCE MANAGEMENT) Inc. until today, Shiah had worked with following clients in various industries:
ECS (Elitegroup Computer System) USA, ClubPhoto.com, Sercomm USA, GVision, Cybersys Information USA, Living Stone technology, Gti Audio, Chia Hier Textile group, eTurbotouch Technology, Flytech Technology, etc.

Teaching career:

As a Professor in the Business Schools, courses Dr. Shiah teaches include:
Marketing Management, Customer Relationship Management, Organizational and Business Development, International Business Management, Marketing Research, and Consumer Behavior.
Shiah was certified in 2006 as AMA (American Management Association) Consultant Instructor of Sales and Marketing training in China. Classes conducted include Thermal Ceramics, Chia-Shih Funds, Degussa China, Teamsun, and Air Products China, etc.

Education:

Shiah received his Doctor of Business Administration in 2005 from Golden Gate University, San Francisco. He also had his MBA degree in Marketing from Tulane University, New Orleans. He got his Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering in 1980. Dr. Shiah speaks English and Mandarin.
